There is an exciting new opportunity for students this summer — Dowagiac Youth Summer Theatre!

They will be putting on a production of Disney’s “High School Musical.”

Purpose of this project is to give talented young people in Dowagiac the chance to spend some time this summer learning dance, singing and acting and put on an awesome play for the community.

“We are hoping this will let our young stars in Dowagiac shine, while giving our community a fun event as well. We encourage any student in grades 5-8 to join the cast,” said Justus Gage/Patrick Hamilton elementary counselor Lisa Armijo, who is working on the project with elementary music teacher Karen Eckman.

Practices will be Monday evenings from 6 to 8:30 and Wednesday mornings from 9 to 11:30 beginning Monday, June 13, in the Union High School cafeteria.

Performances will be at Dowagiac Middle School Performing Arts Center.

A cost of $30 per student is to be paid at the first practice.
