A Pacific Northwest Indian Art display will be at the museum from now until December. The exhibit include examples of painted, wooden art. Pieces include masks, canoes, totem figures and carved fishing hooks.

The objects are from the collection of A.A. Lewis and were gathered by Lewis and his four sons when they worked with a traveling tent show. The show toured the Northwest Pacific area in the 1880s and the art pieces were offered by the nativesĀ  in exchange for admission to the show.

Artifacts on loan from Eastside Elementary School are also on exhibit now through December. Memorabilia, including a bicentennial quilt made by students, spots trophies, plaques, class pictures and more, are featured. The exhibit gives a glimpse into the history of the recently closed school.

A Gulf War exhibit is on display and will remain as a permanent fixture in the museum. The exhibit features area Gulf War veterans and home-front activities.

The museum is requesting pictures of area veterans who served during that war. Photographs can be scanned and returned. Call museum curator Carol Bainbridge at 683-4702 ext. 212 for more information.

Museum hours are Wednesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
