CASSOPOLIS — A Decatur woman who led a group of methamphetamine dealers is headed to prison.

Leslie Clouse, 43, was sentenced to seven to 30 years on Friday at Cass County Circuit Court.

She will receive credit for 167 days already served.

She had been convicted of delivery and manufacturing methamphetamine and marijuana and delivery of a counterfeit controlled substance.

Defense attorney Carol Montavon Bealor asked for a lenient sentence so Clouse could get treatment for her drug addiction.

“It only has gotten worse. She has no prior substantial treatment,” Bealor said. “She wants to get treatment. She feels it’s the only way she’ll turn her life around.”

But Clouse, who has racked up four prior felonies and 10 misdemeanors, had sentence guidelines that demanded a substantial prison sentence.

Judge Michael Dodge said Clouse was the leader of a group of three who manufactured and sold methamphetamine and marijuana to undercover police informants in Glenwood.
