Miss Michele and Co. Dance Competition Team recently competed in a semi-finals competition held by Tremaine Dance.

The competition took place at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel in Schaumburg, Ill., during the weekend of Feb. 4.

Miss Michele and Co. Dance Competition Team brought home a first-place trophy and two-third place trophies, qualifying them for nationals competition in July at the Renaissance Orlando at Seaworld.

Miss Michele and Co. is composed of a group of girls within the ages of 9-17, representing the communities of Dowagiac, Niles and Coloma.

The group was founded not only to give the girls the opportunity to compete, but also to help strengthen their future, while teaching them discipline and self-respect.

The Competition Team rehearses several different genres of dance, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop while working on technique and choreography.

Rehearsals take place at Miss Michele and Co. Dance Studio in the Heartland building on M-51 South, Dowagiac. Competing helps fulfill dancers’ desires and provides an avenue where they can explore their passion and their love of dance.
