Niles woman hurt in Howard rollover

CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office is investigating a traffic crash which occurred Monday at about 4:35 p.m. on M-60 near Barron Lake Road in Howard Township.

The crash involved a single vehicle driven by Deborah Lee Canale, 51, of Niles. Canale was traveling west on M-60 when she lost control of her vehicle and crossed over the center median.

Canale was unable to regain control once she returned to the roadway and traveled back into the center median, rolling the vehicle onto its top.

Canale was able to get out of the vehicle and was transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment.

Canale was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Howard Township fire/rescue units, Lifecare Ambulance service and Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service (SMCAS).

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
