Foundation eyeing applicants for scholarship

The Edwardsburg Public Schools Foundation began with a mission to “maximize all students’ potential to be successful in life.”

In the last three years, the foundation has awarded 49 scholarships to Edwardsburg seniors.  These scholarship awards were in the amount of $1,000 each and are given in two installments for students who remain in good standing at their college, university or vocational school.

The 2011-2012 applications are now available on both the foundation website  www.edwardsburgpublicschoolsfoundation.org and the school district website,  www.edwardsburgpublicschools.org, as well as at the high school guidance office.

The application deadline is April 15.

The Keith Kirkdorfer Memorial scholarship program funded through the foundation is in its second year and has been made available through the generosity of Cynthia Kirkdorfer and the Kirkdorfer family.

She has endowed five $1,000 scholarships in memory of her husband, a well know farmer and community member, Keith Kirkdorfer, for students wishing to pursue post secondary education in the areas of agriculture and related fields.

This year there will be an additional award for a total of six awards. This application and criteria along with background and history about Mr. Kirkdorfer are also on both website and high school guidance office.

Both scholarships focus on students who may have struggled at the beginning of their high school career but through hard work and perseverance improved their grades and standing.

The foundation hopes all seniors will apply or one or both of the offered scholarships.  For further information please call (269) 663-0214 or e-mail pbellaire@eps-online.org.
