Aislinn Frantz writes winning play

Union High School’s 2008 valedictorian, Aislinn Frantz, won a playwrighting contest sponsored by Ann Arbor Civic Theatre.

Two one-act plays, one short play and Aislinn’s full-length play were chosen.

Ann Arbor Civic Theatre will be doing a staged reading of her play at 2 p.m. Feb. 20. Sunday afternoon’s “I Can’t Believe I Read the Whole Thing” features the full-length script “You Can Spend Your Whole Life Running” by Aislinn.

Aislinn, also a former Chieftain Marching Band drum major, attended Western Michigan University for one year and the University of Michigan for the past two years. She is the daughter of Rich and Teri Frantz.

At DUHS Aislinn participated in Academic Challenge (captain), Humanities Club (president), band, Drama Club, Science Olympiad, golf, Jazz Band and was Beckwith Theatre Company student representative.

Her honors also included HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth) ambassador, two consecutive first-place Michael Collins short stories, consistent I’s at district solo and ensemble festival, two I’s at state solo and ensemble, academic letter, varsity letter, band letter and selection for the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestra.
