The Niles junior varsity football team dropped a 45-15 decision to visiting Marshall Wednesday night and is now 1-1 on the year.

“Our team did a complete 180 on us this week,” Niles coach Josh Bourne said. “We went from a game last week where we had no penalties, always had players where they were supposed to be, nearly flawless, to this week where we had numerous bad unforced penalties, six turnovers and multiple times where players were no on the field where they should be and we had to burn timeouts because of it,”

Bourne did single out some players he felt performed well against the Redhawks.

“We thought Aaron Pierce had another solid game for us tonight on both sides of the ball,” he said. “Blaine Myers pulled down a couple of passes for big games. He has really developed well so far as a receiver for us. Reggie peace had a fumble recovery on defense and Tony and John Thar had numerous special teams tackles that save some potential big plays.”
