Athletic Jaier will be trying to buck a trend in the Blossomland Soccer League.

Jaier is the only team to have ever captured the regular season championship and win the Blososmland Cup in the same year.

Jaier, a First Division team, accomplished that feat in 2008 after defeating Second Division champion Niles Wolverines 3-1.

Jaier has a chance to repeat that feat Sunday afternoon at the Kickers Club where it will take on three-time Blossomland Cup champion St. Joe Kickers Premier.

Athletic Jaier advanced to the finals with a 3-1 win over Real Dowagiac on Sunday in Bridgman.

Jaier (10-0-2) got goals from Ryan Robinson, Randy Bautista and Kyle Haumersen.

Athletic Jaier will be competing in its third consecutive Cup finals.

Jaier was champion in 2008, but lost to the Tornados 3-2 in last year’s championship match.

Alejandro Hernandez had the lone goal for Real Dowagiac, which finishes its year at 4-8-2.

The Kickers Premier edged the Wolverines 1-0 at Brandywine High School on Sunday.

Thiago Pinto had the lone goal for the Kickers, who are now 8-4-2 on the year.

The Wolverines bow out at 7-5-2.

The Kickers last won the tournament in 2007. They were also champions in 2006 and the inaugural year of 2004.

The Blossomland Cup finals are scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m.
