Cassopolis golf team advances to Division 4 regionals

SAUGATUCK – The Cassopolis golf team finished sixth at the Division 4 District Tournament and was the final team to advance to today’s regional at Milham Park in Kalamazoo.

Watervliet captured the district championship with a 362, while Marcellus was second with a 382.

New Buffalo (383), Saugatuck (390), Bridgman (402) and Cassopolis (416) also advanced.
The top six teams move on to the regional round.

New Buffalo’s Blane Zavesky earned medalist honors with a 77.

Blaise Suseland led the Rangers with an 82.

Cassopolis also got a 100 from Aaron Goodrich, a 111 from Gavin Francis, a 123 from Caleb Oliver and a 125 from Anthony Jones.

Edwardsburg softball at Bridgman
BRIDGMAN – The Edwardsburg softball team wrapped up its Lakeland Conference and regular season schedule with a sweep of Bridgman on May 27.

The Eddies won both games 5-4.

Ashley Tackett was the winning pitcher in both contests. She struck out nine and scattered nine hits.

She also had a pair of doubles. Deb Burton also had a double for the Eddies.

In the second game, Aubrey Coquillard had four hits, including a double and a triple.

River Valley at Edwardsburg soccer
Four first half goals was all the Edwardsburg soccer team needed against River Valley on May 26.

Ashlyn Chambers had a pair of goals for the Eddies, who also got goals from Macy Stevenson, Jennifer Sporlader and Leslie Boyles in the first half.

Kaley Vance and Brittany Daily picked up assists for Edwardsburg.

In the final 40 minutes of play, Macy Smith and Ally McIntee both scored in addition to Chambers’ second goal.

Stevenson and Ally Mooth were credited with second half assists.

The Eddies improved to 11-6-1 with the victory.
