BERRIEN SPRINGS – Too many extra outs cost the Brandywine baseball team Tuesday afternoon in the Division 3 District Tournament.

Bridgman took advantage of those extra chances to pull out an 8-6 win over the Bobcats to advance to Saturday’s semifinals.

Bridgman struck first for a pair of runs in the opening inning only to have Brandywine cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the top half of the second.

Four more Bees’ runs in the third inning made it a 6-1 contest and then two more runs in the fifth extended the advantage to 8-1.

A five-run rally in the top of the seventh closed the gap to two runs, but the Bobcats could not catch Bridgman.

“You can’t give a good team as many runs and outs as we did and still win,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “We hit well all game but the other things have to be done well also.”

Kyle King took the loss for the Bobcats with relief help from Dustin Bell.

Cam Reeves was the winner for the Bees.
