The Patriot Stars slugged their way to two wins, 11-9 and 16-5, over the American Stars at the first-ever women’s baseball game on Sunday afternoon at Thomas Memorial Stadium in Niles.

Leading the way for the Patriot Stars in game one were Heather Bauduin, Tracy Rizzo and Ashley Pirani.

Bauduin knocked in three runs while Rizzon went 3-for-3.

Pirani notched the win by giving up only one hit in two and two thirds innings pitched.

Peggy Sue Marlin had three hits for the American Stars, while teammate Kris Raniszewski knocked in three runs.

In the second game, Katie Hewitt pounded out four hits in four at bats, including a pair of doubles. Hewitt also drove in five runs.

Teammate Heather Novotny also went 3-for-3 at the plate.

Amy Schneider and Shawna Macurio led the American Stars with two hits.

Schneider also knocked in a pair of runs.
