BENTON HARBOR – The Niles golf team finished third at the Big 16 Conference West Division Jamboree on Wednesday at Harbor Shores.

Mattawan won the jamboree with a 157, which was three strokes better than runner-up St. Joseph, which finished at 160.

The Vikings were six shots farther back at 166, while Lakeshore was fourth with a 169. Benton Harbor did not have enough players to post a team score.

Niles was led by medalist Chris Noble, who shot 36.

The Vikings also got a 41 from John Schrader, a 43 from Brett Phillips, a 46 from Cole Hensel, a 48 from Jared Langmeyer and a 52 from Christian Ezell.

“The wheels are just spinning,” a disappointed Niles coach Greg Gunder said. “It’s like we are going backwards. We have some work to do.”
