MATTAWAN – The Brandywine softball team dropped a pair of games at the Mattawan Invitational on Saturday.

The Bobcats (2-12) lost to host Mattawan 18-3 in four innings in the first game and then dropped an 8-1 decision to Livonia Ladywood in the second game, which was stopped after five innings due to a time limit.

Brande Overholt was the losing pitcher in the opening game.

Mikayla Kemp had a single and a double for Brandywine.

Kemp took the loss in the second game.

Torie Hunt had a double and Heather Hadden a single for the Bobcats.

“Mikayla Kemp really stepped it up today,” Brandywine coach Angela Melott said. “We were down to one pitcher due to an injury in the second inning of the first game. She pitched well against two very good hitting teams and she made good contact all day on offense.”
