Shamrocks take pair for Brandywine softball

Visiting Berrien Springs swept a Lakeland Conference doubleheader from Brandywine Tuesday afternoon.
The Shamrocks took the opening game 13-4 and then won the nightcap 4-3.
Brande Overholt suffered the loss in the opening game despite nine strikeouts.
The Bobcats committed eight errors behind her.
Sam Vaughn singled twice and doubled as Brandywine finished with eight hits. Rachel Ort had a pair of hits and Ellie Price doubled.
In the nightcap, Mikayla Kemp suffered the loss.
Brandywine had five hits, led by Chelsea Ravish, who tripled.
“We played a much better game second game,” Brandywine coach Angela Melott said. “We came out flat and not ready to play in the first game. We still having too many errors in the field. We need to tighten up our defense and make those big plays.
“Battling through illnesses and injuries are taking a toll on us as a team and many players have been working hard to step up and fill those spots,” she noted.
