RICHLAND – The Dowagiac boys’ and girls’ track teams were swept by host Gull Lake in a Wolverine Conference meet on Tuesday afternoon.

The Chieftains boys’ team fell to the Blue Devils 80-57, while the girls were defeated 104-34.

Dontell Highsmith won a pair of events and was part of the Chieftains’ 800-meter relay team.

Highsmith won the long jump with a leap of 21-1 and the high jump with a height of 5-10.

He joined with Damone Huff, Troy Butcher and Jon Myers to win the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:37.38.

Myers also won the 200-meters with a time of 23.88.

Kyle Wright won the pole vault for the Chieftains with a height of 12-6. Pierre Reed took the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.19, while Dowagiac also won the 400- and 1,600-meter relays.

The 400-meter relay team of Butcher, Myers, Huff and Austin Adams were clocked at 46.02. The 1,600-meter unit of Chris Gantt, Bo Parsons, Tremail Butcher and Kasey Proshwitz ran a time of 3:56.42.

Cierra Mattix won a pair of events for the Chieftain girls’ team and was a part of the winning 400-meter relay team.

Mattix won the 100- and 200-meters with times of 13.74 and 28.52 respectively.

The 400-meter relay team consists of Andrea Bradshaw, Mattix, Andrea Wade and Jacoya Brookins. They ran a time of 54.41
