Eddies roll past Sturgis; girls fall to Trojans

STURGIS – Josh Clark had quite a day for the Edwardsburg boys’ track team.

Clark won the 1,600-, 800- and 3,200-meters and was part of the winning 3,200-meter relay team for the Eddies as they defeated host Sturgis 109-54.

The Lady Eddies were not as fortunate, falling to the Trojans 109-47.

Clark posted times of 4:47.96, 2:06.66 and 10:25.97 respectively in the three individual events.

The Eddies’ 3,200-meter relay team ran a time of 8:41.66.

The other members of that squad were Dustin Moore, Adam Kendall and Zak Eggelston.
Also picking up first place finishes for the Eddies were Nick Thomas in the 110-meter high hurdles (17.57), Kendall in the 400-meters (54.98), Daimon Cavinder in the discus and shot put (113-11 and 40-7), Moore in the high jump (5-6) and  Jorge Martinez in the long jump (18-4).

Edwardsburg swept the top three spots in the high jump and the long jump.

Kyle Dale and Nick Muir were second and third in the high jump at 5-6 and 5-3 respectively.

Moore and Muir were second and third in the long jump with leaps of 18-2.5 and 17-7.5.

Edwardsburg captured the 400-meter relay with a time of 1:42.94. That unit consisted of Jack Harrison, Thomas, Muir and Skye Roy.

The Eddies won the 1,600-meter relay as the team of Drew Baker, Moore, Kendall and Martinez Climent posted a time of 3:50.87.

India Jackson won a pair of events for the Edwardsburg girls’ track team.

Jackson won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.92 and the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.46.

Emily Kozinski won the discus with a toss of 95-1, while Casey Garcia won the pole vault with a height of 8-feet.
