“This girl can do anything. If she wanted to be president some day, she could,” said teacher Marti Wegner of 14-year-old Morgan Mczeal.

Mczeal is currently an eighth-grader at Ring Lardner Middle School and was one of three girls nominated to attend the National Youth Leaders State Conference, an honor and privilege for any student.

“I nominated her because I think she has great potential” said Wegner, Mczeal’s teacher.
The conference was held last weekend, March 18-21 in Ypsilanti, Mich. Mczeal was the only one out of the three students nominated to attend the conference.

The conference lasted four days and over that period the students had the opportunity to participate in different workshops. Mczeal participated in workshops that taught her how to be a better leader, make good and important decisions and conflict resolution.

For Morgan, attending the conference was a great learning opportunity.

” It was so much fun. I met so many new people and had the chance to come out of my shell,” said Mczeal. “I’m really glad my parents let me go.”
