Lucille Emma Disterheft, 99, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2010, at Forest Glen Assisted Living in Dowagiac.

Lucille’s life began on Oct. 16, 1910, in Dowagiac, the daughter of Fred and Cora (Wolf) Holle.

She was united in marriage to Harry Disterheft, who preceded her in death in 2003.

The Disterhefts farmed in Silver Creek Township for years, raising wheat, corn and swine.

In her early years, Lucille worked for James Heddon’s Sons in Dowagiac.

She enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Germany and many places in between.

She enjoyed fishing and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Pipestone Township.

She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Herbert and Thelma Disterheft of Dowagiac; nieces and nephews, Janet (Jim) Price of Eau Claire, Marilyn (Lewis) Rosenbaum of St. Louis, Cora Miller of Wilmington, N.C., Vern (Sherry) Holle of Eau Claire and Warren (Carol) Holle of Benton Harbor.

In addition to her husband, Lucille is preceded in death by an infant daughter and brothers Ralph, Ed and John Holle.

Lucille’s family will gather with friends on Wednesday, March 31, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.

She will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery, Pipestone Township.
