ROYAL OAK – Albion College first-year running back Clinton Orr and junior kicker Mychal Galla were named the MIAA’s offensive and special teams players of the week, respectively, for their contributions to the Britons’ 34-14 victory at Kalamazoo College last Saturday, league publicist Greg Chandler announced Monday morning.

Orr, from Buchanan, rushed for a career-high 181 yards, including touchdown runs of 43 and 72 yards. Boosted by back-to-back 100-yard rushing games, Orr has moved up to third in the MIAA in rushing with a 92.2-yard average in four league contests.

Galla, from Muskegon (Muskegon Catholic Central High School), was 4-for-4 on extra points and booted field goals of 27 and 38 yards, and he placed four of his six punts inside the Kalamazoo 20-yard line.

A share of second place in the MIAA will be on the line as the football season comes to a close Saturday as Albion hosts Alma College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium and Morley Fraser Field.

Albion College gained 372 of its 485 yards on the
ground as it ran away with a 34-14 victory over Kalamazoo College in
Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association football action.

Orr set the tone for the afternoon by ripping touchdown runs of 43 and 72 yards on Albion’s first two possessions. Orr rolled up a career-high 181 yards on 18 carries for his second 100-yard game of the season.

“We were able to run the ball and that is a big key for us,” Albion
head coach Craig Rundle said. “Clinton got us off to a good start and
that was important. I told the offensive line that was as good a
performance we’ve had out of that group in a while.”

Orr has gained 319 of his 469 rushing yards on the season in the past
two weeks.

Albion (3-2 against MIAA rivals this season) will host Alma
Nov. 14 in a battle to finish the season with a share of second place
in the league.
