EDWARDSBURG – Edwardsburg village customers of the wastewater treatment service will get a hike in monthly bills beginning in February 2010.
Residents now pay $24.45 per month with the rate to go up to $27.50 per month. Village President James Robinson said Monday night during a meeting of the village council that the hike was because of an increase by the City of Elkhart that processes the wastewater. The city increased its rate by 42 percent, said Robinson, noting that the treatment plant has a major repair problem. The rate will go up another 40 cents per month in 2011.

New council member
The council introduced its new member and swore in Toby Stahly,45, of 68968 Elkhart Rd. Stahly will become the new equipment commissioner. Stahly resides with his wife, Gwen, and is a production supervisor at Manchester Tank and Equipment of Elkhart. He has served on the planning commission for six years and has been recording secretary for five years.
Stahly replaces Bill Rauch who resigned from the seat in August. Stahly’s term will run until the next regular election in 2010.
