Brandywine volleyball team stings Bees

BRIDGMAN – Visiting Brandywine needed five sets to defeat Bridgman in a Lakeland Conference volleyball match Wednesday night.

The Lady Bobcats defeated the Lady Bees 13-25, 25-14, 28-26, 23-25 and 15-13.

Kelsey Prestly led Brandywine with 23 kills and two aces, while Lauren Leonard finished with 14 kills and two aces.

MacKenzie Shelton also had a pair of aces.

The Lady Bobcats got 23 assists from Kaley Jones and 18 from Jessy Cooper.

The Brandywine junior varsity volleyball team defeated Bridgman 18-25, 25-11 and 15-10.

In a showdown of Lakeland Conference leaders, host Coloma defeated Edwardsburg 3-1 to take over first place in the conference.

The Lady Comets captured the first set 25-10 as the Lady Eddies got off to a slow start.

But Edwardsburg rallied to tie the match at 1-1 with a commanding 25-13 victory.

From there, it was back and forth between the two teams with Coloma taking the third set 25-23 and the second set 25-22.

Elise Mackling led the Lady Eddies with 17 kills, 12 digs, three blocks and two aces.

Emily Kozinski added eight kills, two digs and a block, while Paige Mueller had 10 digs and three aces.

Edwardsburg also got six blocks and two kills from Ellen Miller and six assist, an ace and nine digs from Jenn Mackling. Emily Getz finished the night wtih two kills, nine assists and 14 digs.

Maddi Mueller added 12 digs, an ace and two kills.
