Benton Harbor no match for Lady Vikings

BENTON HARBOR – It didn’t take very long for visiting Niles to chalk up another Big 16 Conference West Division volleyball win Wednesday night.

The Lady Vikings had no trouble dispatching Benton Harbor 3-0.

Niles won the opening set 25-1 and then completed the sweep with wins of 25-14 and 25-10.

A trio of Lady Vikings finished the night with five kills, while two more Niles players had four spikes.

Charissa Spear, Cortney Shirrell and Ashley Love all had five kills with Brittney Buti and Sarah Ferguson finishing with four kills.

Buti also led the team in aces with six, while Shirrell had four aces and two digs.

Ashley Allison led the team with 13 assists. Spear finished with 11 assists, while Taylor Brandstatter had three aces and Rachel Zeider two blocks.

BUCHANAN – Visiting Berrien Springs swept a Lakeland Conference match from Buchanan Wednesday night 3-0.

The Lady Shamrocks defeated the Lady Bucks 25-23, 25-23 and 26-24 in a very spirited match.

Alexis Lenox led the Lady Bucks with 40 assists and six digs, while Rachel Downs added 30 digs.

Rachel Briggs finished the match with five digs, four kills and four blocks. Audrey Oake had a team-high 21 kills and three digs, while Kirsten Smallwood had two digs, four kills and two blocks.

Brooke Shultz finished with 14 digs and two aces. Kelsie Patrick had two digs and seven kills. Erin Glavin chipped in with 13 digs and two aces.

EDWARDSBURG – The host Lady Eddies remained undefeated in the Lakeland Conference with a 25-15, 25-10 and 25-4 win over cross-county rival Cassopolis Wednesday night.

Elise Mackling led Edwardsburg with five kills, eight aces and five digs.

The Lady Eddies also got nine assist, four aces and six digs from Jennifer Mackling and four kills, two assists, seven digs and two aces from Emily Getz.

Maddi Mueller had 18 digs and one ace, while Paige Mueller had 14 digs and one ace. Erin Burks finished with six kills and three digs.

Olivia Stewart led the Lady Rangers with three kills and an assist. Kristen Fitzsimons had one ace, one block and one assist. Courtney Foster led the team with five digs.
