BUCHANAN – In their first Lakeland Conference cross county meet of the season Buchanan had little trouble getting past visiting Brandywine on a cool Monday afternoon as strong winds were gusting out of the west.

Both the boys and the girls claimed the first five spots for Buchanan with the boys winning the meet 15-50 and the girls taking a 15-49 victory.

Rick Reith led the Bucks with a time of 19:07. Carsten McCarty finished second with a time of 19:42 followed by Alex Eger (19:47), John Kuntz (20:16) and John Querrel (21:10).

Jacob Ferris (21:41) and Mike Brown (23:14) finished out the Buchanan runners. David Sieting was the first Bobcat runner to cross the finish line in a time of 22:15.

Torrie Eger out distanced all the girls with a winning time of 20:38. Elizabeth Hein came across the finish line second in a time of 21:44. Stephanie Reith (22:17, Shanon Green (23:19) and Alysia Kruchkow rounded out the top five for the Lady Bucks.

Kaitlyn Delgos finished seventh with a time of 24:12 behind sixth place finisher for Buchanan Allie Mitchell (23:54).

The Edwardsburg cross country teams split a Lakeland Conference meet against visiting Bridgman on Monday.

The Lady Eddies won 18-39, while the Bees won the boy’s portion of the meet 20-38.
Edwardsburg’s Lindsay Ward was the girls’ winner with a time of 23:07.

Taylor Kanaby was second for the Lady Eddies with a time of 23:08, while Edwardsburg’s Jessica Buzalski was third (23:49) and Justine Lewis fourth (23:54).
Also placing in the top 10 for the Lady Eddies were Miranda Bronicki, who was eighth (24:54) and Lauren Brady, who was ninth (24:59).

Cameron Magro of Bridgman captured the boys’ race with a clocking of 17:07.

Edwardsburg’s Josh Clark finished third with a time of 17:19.

Zak Eggleston was fifth for the Eddies with a time of 18:00, Josh Eagleson was eighth (19:42) and Brandon Enders 10th (19:57.
