CASSOPOLIS – Cass County Treatment Court is receiving $456,320, according to Judge Susan Dobrich of Dowagiac.

“We’re very, very excited about that,” Dobrich advised the Board of Commissioners Sept. 17.

“It’s particularly good timing for Woodlands because it has taken substantial cuts in two out of four substance abuse providers. Steve Lehman’s retiring and, unfortunately, is not going to be replaced.

“Another individual left, so they only have two people. This is going to allow us to support Woodlands and get appropriate treatment for our people in Cass County,” Dobrich said.
Dobrich said the county received a notification letter Thursday addressed to County Administrator Terry Proctor from the Justice Department on behalf of Attorney General Eric Holder.

The funds come under the FY ’09 Recovery Act Edward Byrne Memorial Competitive Grant Program for problem-solving courts.
