Rain may have stopped the Lakeland Conference tennis match between host Brandywine and Coloma, but it did not keep the Bobcats from pitching up their first victory of the season.

No matter what the outcome of the No. 2 singles match between Brandywine’s Jeremy Zimmerman and Shawn Collins, the Bobcats cannot lose.

Brandywine holds a 6-1 lead in the match.

Zimmerman and Collins are tied at one set apiece, but Brandywine holds a 2-1 lead in the third and deciding set.

The Bobcats swept the doubles flights to set themselves up for the victory. Brandywine also won two out of three completed singles matches.

Winning in singles for the Bobcats were Jake Fiero at No. 1 and Buck Bourdon at No. 3.
“I am very pleased with the play today, especially from the three set matches and tiebreak matches,” Brandywine coach David Sidenbender said. “We have really showed so fight and grit and that is one of our strengths.”

Winning in doubles competition were Tyler Weeks and Cody Udell, Colten Ditto and Brad Millin, Austin Searles and Josh Boger, along with Dan Blank and Nick Wright.

“I am also happy with the progress my No. 1 doubles team has made so far, they are really gelling nicely,” Sidenbender said. “I am just extremely happy for the whole team in general, they are a real fun group to work with.”
