Goalie clinic scheduled for Aug. 3-7

Former NCAA division one soccer player Chris Haack will offer a goalkeeper clinic for middle school- and high school-age students at the St. Joe Kickers Club on Aug. 3-7 from 10 a.m. until noon.

Haack is a former goalkeeper coach for Grace Christian and St. Joseph high schools and has a “D” license with the United States Soccer Federation.

Niles to hold wrestling camp Aug. 3-6

A youth wrestling camp featuring the University of Wisconsin head wrestling coach Barry Davis will be held at Niles High School Aug. 3-6.

Registration will be held Aug. 3 beginning at 9 a.m. at the high school. Cost of the camp is $150 per wrestler.

The camp is for wrestlers ages 10 and up and will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The fourth annual Benny’s Barber Shop Golf Outing, a four-man scramble, will take place Sunday, Aug. 9, at noon at Spruce Ridge.

Brandywine Foundation Golf Outing Scramble

NILES – The Brandywine Foundation 2009 Golf Outing Scramble will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course in Eau Claire.

The cost is $65 per person, which includes an 18-hole green fee, motor cart, dinner, and prizes.

Play will go on rain or shine. Appropriate attire is required, soft spikes only please.

Pre-registration and payment is required by July 24. There is a maximum of 80 golfers, so enter early.

LMC Golf Outing at Orchard Hills

BENTON TOWNSHIP – The 21st Annual Lake Michigan College Golf Outing will be held Monday, Aug. 17, at Orchard Hills Country Club in Buchanan. Openings are available for the best-ball event.

The entry fee for a foursome is $600 or $150 for individual entries and a portion of the entry fee is tax deductible.

Opportunities to highlight local businesses through sponsorships are available beginning at $200.

Along with golf, the outing includes lunch, door prizes, awards and a social hour with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Proceeds from the golf outing benefit the LMC Athletics program.

Soccer conditioning begins Aug. 3

The Dowagiac Union High School soccer program will hold conditioning on Aug 3-6 from 6-9 p.m. at the APEX Complex (soccer field).

Tryouts for the team will be held on Aug. 12-14 from 6-9 p.m. at the APEX Complex.

All players must have a physical on file before they can participate in either conditioning or tryouts.
