BREAKING: Winds as strong as 90 mph reported in Michiana
A severe thunderstorm in the Michiana area has damaged houses and downed trees and powerlines over highways.
According to WNDU, the storm, with winds reported as high as 68 miles per hour, is moving east as of 7:30 p.m. No tornadoes have been reported; however, hail as large as 3 inches may be coming this direction. Many roads are closed.
The storm moved from Iowa early this morning. LaPorte, Ind. was one of the first area cities hit by the storm.
Trees are down over U.S. Highway 12 and have blocked traffic on Gumwood Road in Granger. Winds have taken siding off houses. Major house damage has been reported in South Bend.
Winds should hit Centreville in approximately 8 minutes, according to WNDU. Some winds are moving toward the I-69 corridor in the Sturgis area.
