Motorcyclist apprehended

A Dowagiac man, 23, will face a variety of charges in Van Buren County after he allegedly fled police on M-152 on his motorcycle Thursday at speeds of up to 100 mph.

Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reported a deputy chased the motorcycle on M-152, but lost sight of the suspect at M-51.

Another deputy traveling south on M-51 located the suspect at M-51 and Elm Street.

The motorcycle drove through a yard where children were playing and into a corn field before the suspect took off on foot.

A deputy pursued the suspect on foot for about a mile before the suspect surrendered to an off-duty Dowagiac Police Department officer on Dewey Lake Street in Cass County.

Van Buren authorities withheld the suspect’s name pending arraignment.
