Free SMC concert 3 p.m. March 18

The Southwestern Michigan College Select Voices performs at 3 p.m. March 18 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 302 Cedar St., in Niles.
The choir will sing a number of pieces from “Serenade to Music” by Ralph Vaughan-Williams. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will include an adaptation of text from William Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice.”
Some of the works in set one are “Oculi Omnium” by Charles Wood; “If Ye Love Me,” by Thomas Tallis; “Beatus vir qui timet,” by Michael Haydn; and “Abendlied,” by Josef Reinberger.
Set two performances will include “Hosanna,” by Brent Manning; “Serenade to Music,” Ralph Vaughan-Williams; “Who is Sylvia,” by George Shearing; “Eleanor Rigby,” by Lennon/McCartney, arranged Phil Hart; and “O My Luve’s Like a Red, Red Rose,” by Rene Clausen.
Set three of the concert includes “Past Life Melodies,” by Sarah Hopkins; “Witness,” arranged by Jack Halloran; “Shenandoah,” by James Erb; “Suddenly Seymour,” from “Little Shop of Horrors,” by Howard Ashmen and Alan Menken; and “Elijah Rock,” by Moses Hogan.
