NEW BUFFALO, Mich. — Anytime you perform on Sept. 11 it is special, according to country music star Craig Morgan, who will be at the Silver Creek Events Center at Four Winds in New Buffalo for a 9 p.m. concert that night.

Morgan spent 17 years in the military, including 10 and a half years of active duty with the United States Army. He recently returned from his 12th trip overseas to perform for the troops.

“I think anytime any one of us perform on Sept. 11 there is added meaning just because of the impact of what happened,” he said. “I think everyone appreciates the magnitude of that day and the events that took place. Anytime we play and no matter where we play on that day, it is a memorable day for everyone.”

Morgan recently released a new single “When I’m Gone,” which is his first single since 2013 and is in advance of a new album scheduled for release in 2016.

The country star has been out on tour after eight months in the studio and said the crowd reaction to the new music has been strong.

“The reception has been overwhelming,” he said. “I’m pretty excited because we haven’t had a new single in over a year. It is nice to get back out there with my friends in country radio.”

Morgan said the new album should be out the first quarter of 2016.

“People will recognize my vocals,” he said. “I have been doing this for like 10 years and 16 top 10s and plenty of hits, so people recognize my voice and the material is in line with the caliber of content that there has been in the past. But I think the production is more advanced and in line with what is out there now.

“I think this is some of the best vocals I have done on any of the stuff I have ever record. So I am pretty excited about that.”

When Morgan hits the Silver Creek Events Center stage fans can expect to hear all the hits. Songs like “International Harvester,” “Little Bit of Life,” “That’s What I love About Sunday” and “Redneck Yacht Club.”

Morgan is not only a performer, but an avid outdoorsman whose show “Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors” is in its sixth season on the Outdoor Channel.

“I’ve been on other people’s shows a long time ago and worked in the outdoor industry before I became a singer,” he said. “I was approached to do a show because they thought it was interesting in the fact that I tour and do what hunting I can while I’m touring.”

The show won a Golden Moose Award for best comedy in 2015.

“In that industry that is the Emmy of the outdoor world,” he said.

A limited number of tickets are still available through Ticketmaster at $32.70.
