Brawley earns first team All-MIAA status

Former Niles standout Andrew Brawley was a unanimous selection to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball team for 2013.

Brawley, a 2009 Niles graduate, was a first team pick. The senior hit .355 to lead Olivet College offensively. He also led the team in hits (49), RBIs (27), on-base percentage (.424) and slugging percentage (.449).

Brawley was also named the Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player for the Comets.

He started all 40 games for Olivet this past season, mainly at first base, but he also played in the outfield and served as a closer for the Comets. He has two saves in 2013.

As a junior, Brawley started the first 26 games before missing the remainder of the season with a serious hand injury. Despite the injury, he still led the Comets in hitting at .329 and earned second team All-MIAA honors.

For his career, the history education major, is listed in the top 10 all-time in batting average and slugging percentage.

Brawley, who will be a member of the Olivet coaching staff next year as an assistant coach, graduated in May.
