Edwardsburg hosting National Night Out event Tuesday

On Tuesday, neighborhoods throughout Edwardsburg are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 32 annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department, will involve over 16,540 communities from all 40 states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.

From 4 to 7 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Edwardsburg and across the nation, are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department will be hosting a neighborhood gathering at the Edwardsburg Fire Department located at 69910 M-62.

Some of the activities include meet and greets with your local first responders, touch a tractor and cookouts. There will also be a racecar on site that races at South Bend Motor Speedway.

This will be Edwardsburg’s first NNO event. All area residents are encouraged to attend.

Any local businesses, community groups wishing to participate, should contact the police department for further information.
