BREAKING: Elderly woman reported missing in Niles

The Niles City Police Department is currently investigating an incident involving a 91 -year-old female who is missing from a local assisted living facility.

On Thursday at approx. 4 p.m., Mary Schulz is believed to have left the Brentwood  Assisted Living Facility, 1147 South Third St., with an unidentified white female. Schulz has not returned to the facility or had contact with relatives since that time. According  to Brentwood staff, Schulz appeared to know or recognize the woman she left with, but did not sign out of the residence.

Schulz walks with the assistance of a walker, and left the building with only her walker and purse. Schulz is on medication, which is required daily but was left behind in her room.
Schulz is described as a white female, 91 years old, with white hair, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall
and weighing approximately 100 pounds. She was last seen wearing cream-colored pants, a white sweater, tan shirt, white shoes, and with a white purse.  The female  she left with is described as a white female, approximately 19 to 20 years old, with  straight, shoulder-length brown hair, wearing a dark green T-shirt and blue jean shorts.
No vehicle information or direction of travel is known.
While it is believed Schulz left with the unidentified female, the Niles City Police  Department, its Reserve Officers and K-9 Unit, along with the Niles City Fire  Department, Clay Fire Department (St. Joseph Co. Indiana), MABAS Division 201  (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System/Tactical Search and Rescue Team) and several  Volunteers In Police Services (VIPS) members, have begun a large scale coordinated  search effort in the areas surrounding the assisted living facility.
