There’s a storm brewing in Edwardsburg.

The “storm center,” or Eagle Lake Elementary School, is the home of the Michiana Storm Soccer Club, a new local travel soccer club.

As the only travel soccer club in Cass County, the Storm has doubled in size with players from Brandywine, Buchanan, Cassopolis, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg, Niles and some from Indiana after only their first spring season.

In the spring, the Storm started with U12, U14 and U16 boys’ teams playing in the West Michigan Youth Soccer Association and made an immediate impact. All teams performed well with the U14s ending the season ranked as the 27th best team in the state of Michigan out of 140.

Furthermore, the U14s finished second at both the Kingdom Crusader Cup in Kalamazoo and Portage Classic.

As the Storm looks to begin their first full year this fall as a club there is still roster spots available for the U11 boys, U14 boys, and high school girls teams. Practices and games start the first week in August at Eagle Lake Elementary. Practices are twice a week with games beginning in September and played on weekends.

The coaching staff is background checked, experienced and licensed by National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

Travel soccer allows for those players looking to advance their skills, elevate their game and compete at the highest level possible. Information about the Storm is on their website at michianastormsoccer.com or emails can be sent to club administrator Janice Fonseca at michianastorm@gmail.com.
