MBA Select grabs top 10 finish

The MBA Select team from Mishawaka, Ind. is guaranteed a Top 10 finish at the AAU 11U/Sixth grade national tournament being held this week in Franklin, Tenn. MBA Select played Swarm Elite from Oklahoma in the ninth place game Friday morning. The MBA Select squad consists of Indiana players from Mishawaka, Bremen, LaPorte and Rochester, along with Niles’ Elyse Zimmerman, who has been a member of the team for four years.
The team captured the 2008 Indiana State championship as a 9U squad.
A total of 56 teams started the tournament, which began on Sunday. The tournament concluded on Friday.
The Select squad opened with a 58-48 victory over MBA Elite Wolves, but dropped a 31-29 decision to Valley Magic of Missouri.
MBA Select rebounded by a 52-43 win over the Texas Fury to advance to the top 12 of the tournament.
The Select advanced to the ninth place game Friday morning with a 50-42 win over the Eclipse Red on Thursday night.
They faced the Swarm Elite from Oklahoma, which defeated Wisconsin’s ABC Knights on Thursday night, 50-41.
