Martha M. ‘Marty’ Donoho

Martha passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Dowagiac on Aug. 15, 1929, the daughter of Meryl and Anna (Smith) Rowe. She is survived by: four children, William (Jean Ann) Donoho, Cathy (Charles) Curtis, Jo Lynn (Chester) Swisher and Deborah (Charles) Preis; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her special friend, Richard Urbanski; one sister, Catherine Hart; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Donoho, in 1987 and one son, Steven Donoho, in 1997.

She retired from Contech where she was a machine operator for 27 years. She also operated Donoho Grocery at Indian Lake for many years.

She was noted for taking food to work, like her macaroni and cheese and apple pie, for everyone to share. She was happiest when crocheting or knitting an afghan to give to friends like her heart doctor, a waitress, women in service and family.

She loved the water and enjoyed her lakefront home on Indian Lake for 50 years.

Her family wishes to thank her doctor, Dr. Douglas Huggett. She will be missed by all who knew her. A memorial service in her honor will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Dowagiac Moose Lodge with a gathering of friends and family to follow the service. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Lakeland Hospice. Yazel and Clark Chapel is serving her family. Please sign her guestbook and leave a memory of Martha at www.yazel-clark.com.
