WMU’s Terrell MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND — The Mid-American Conference announced its Scholar-Athletes of the Week for Oct. 15, with Western Michigan football player Zach Terrell earning the male honors for the first time this season.

Terrell is the second Bronco male student-athlete to win the award this year, joining Matt Hamilton (men’s tennis).
Terrell led the Broncos to a thrilling come-from-behind road victory over Ball State on Saturday. He completed 20 of 29 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns compared to just one interception in the game.

In the second quarter, Terrell was one half of the Broncos’ longest play of the season when he completed a 75-yard touchdown pass to Corey Davis. Late in the fourth quarter and with the Broncos trailing 38-25, Terrell connected with Daniel Braverman on a 12-yard touchdown pass to give WMU the lead with less than two minutes to play.
Terrell is currently among the most efficient quarterbacks in the MAC and in Division I FBS; he is completing a league-best 66.1 percent of his passes and leads the MAC with a 152.5 efficiency rating.

He has thrown 10 touchdowns this season compared to just four interceptions.
