Howard wins second straight district championship

PAW PAW — For the second straight year, Dowagiac’s Tristan Howard won a Division 3 Individual District championship.

Howard, the No. 1-ranked heavyweight in Division 3, pinned his way to a championship as he improved his record to 34-3.

Howard stuck Allegan’s Jacob Holmes in the championship match in 3:22.

Also advancing to Saturday’s regional at Allendale for the Chieftains were Gage Williams, who finished third at 112-pounds; Aubrey Huston, who was fourth at 145-pounds; Scotty Hassle, who was third at 160-pounds and Justin Lyle, who was fourth at 171-pounds.

Buchanan’s Eddie Washington edged Berrien Springs’ Gage Wells to win the 215-pound championship

Also advancing from Buchanan were Trevor Kline at 112, Matt Strozewski at 119, Adam Eger at 125 and Jordan Brown at 145.
