HAMILTON — Aydan Mccarey had a big day at the Division 2 State Track & Field Championships hosted by Hamilton High School.

Mccarey placed second in both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 400-meters. In the 400-meters he ran a time of 49.61. Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s Zachary Mylenek was the state champion with a time of 48.49.

In the high hurdles, Mccarey posted a time of 14.52. Mill Coleman, of Grand Rapids Catholic Central, was the state champion with a time of 14.49.

Edwardsburg’s Mobius Stubblefield placed 12th in the 400-meters with a time of 50.69. Dowagiac’s Joshua Winchester-Jones was 29th with a 53.49.

The Chieftains’ Owen Saylor placed 34th in the 800-meters with a clocking of 2:04.20 and 23^rd in the 1,600-meters with a time of 4:34.91.

Niles finished 34th in the 400-meter relay with a clocking of 44.64. That team consisted of Peyton Gordon, Julian Means-Flewellen, Alex Anderson and Sam Rucker.

Edwardsburg placed 12th in the 1,600-meter relay with the team of Kya Bryant, Stubblefield, Jack Bell and Dylan Leep. They posted a time of 3:28.95.

The Eddies’ 3,200-meter relay team of Dane Bailey, Zach Rausch, Maguire Johnson and George Scupham, placed 22nd with a time of 8:28.21.

Niles’ Brandon Hamilton was 12th in the shot put with a toss of 51-2. Edwardsburg’s Larson Fessenden was 28th with a throw of 45-2.5.

In the discus Fessenden 17th with a throw of 144-0.

In the high jump, Niles’ Ethan Chambliss placed 10th with a height of 6-3. Aydon Goorhouse, of Edwardsburg, was 19th with a height of 5-11.

Jaden Ivery, of Niles, finished 19th in the long jump with a leap of 19-2.25.

Berrien Springs won the Division 2 boys title with 40 points. Niles finished 18th with 16 points and

In the girls’ portion of the meet, Edwardsburg’s Sarah Pippin tied for second-place in the high jump with a height of 5-3. Hastings’ Bellla Friddle was the state champion as she cleared 5-5.

The Eddies were 33rd in the final standings with seven points. Dearborn Divine Child was the state champion with 46 points.

Division 3

Neither Brandywine, Buchanan or Cassopolis scored in the Division 3 finals hosted by Kent City High School.

Buchanan’s Britain Philip finished 11th in the boys 300-meter hurdles with time of 40.86, while Brandywine’s Lily Gill placed 19th with a time of 49.88 in the girls event.

The Bobcats were 11th in the girls 400-meter relay with a time of 51.43. That unit consisted of Allison Fedore, Karleigh Byrd, Gill and Mackenna Price. The Brandywine boys team was 20th with a clocking of 44.52. That squad was made up of Elijah Gamble, Kaden Santana, Kevin Roberts and Kaeden Warfield.

The Bobcats girls 800-meter relay team also finished 11th as they posted a time of 1:49.26. That team was also made up of Fedore, Bryd, Gill and Price.

Buchanan’s girls 400-meter relay team of Audrey Lietz, Madeline Young, Ava Graham and Alaina Nagel finished 16th with a time of 4:19.10. The Bucks’ boys relay team of Jack Sherwood, Liam McBeth, Carson Deming and Philip finished 22th with a clocking of 3:33.19.

Buchanan placed 16th in the boys 3,200-meter relay with a time of 8:31.15. That unit consisted of McBeth, Jacob Kuntz, Sherwood and Philip.

In the field events, Buchanan’s Zoe Griggs placed 18th in the shot put with a toss of 33-7.5.

Brandywine’s Price was 25th in the girls long with a leap of 14-6.75. Cassopolis’ Ryley Bowsher placed 31st with a jump of 14-0.75.

Jaylen Pratt was 16th in the boys high jump with a height of 5-11. Brandywine’s Roberts finished 21st in the pole vault with a height of 12-9 and 17th in the long jump with a leap of 19-1.25.
