Buchanan competitive cheer advances to regionals

The Buchanan competitive cheer team has qualified for Saturday’s Division 3 Regional to be hosted by Rockford High School.

The Bucks finished fourth at the Division 3 District at Allegan last weekend with 657.60 points.

Paw Paw was the district champion with 748.56 points, while Otsego was second and Berrien Springs third.

Dowagiac finished 10th with 618.20 points.

Competing along with Paw Paw, Otsego, Berrien Springs and Buchanan at the regional Saturday will be Tri-County, Alma, Escanaba, Freeland, Portland, Gladstone, Lake Odessa and Comstock Park.

At the Division 2 District hosted by St. Joseph, Edwardsburg was eighth and Niles 14th.

Thornapple-Kellogg was the district champion, while SMAC members Gull Lake, St. Joseph and Mattawan rounded out the top four.

The top four teams at each district advance to the regional round.
