Helen K. (Barrett) Rand-Everman, 96, of Niles passed away at River Ridge Manor in Niles on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 with her family by her side.

Helen was born on May 28, 1914 to the late William Ivan and Grace Gladys (Hover) Barrett.  She was one of four children in the Barrett household.

After school Helen wed the late John C. Rand Jr. on April 11, 1936. Together they had three children. After John passed away Helen was lucky enough to find love again, she wed Chester Everman, he passed away in 1983.

Helen was a devout Catholic, everything she did in her life reflected her faith.  As an active member of St. Mark Catholic church she was also a 26 year member of the Christian Mothers.  She enjoyed sewing, crafts, flowers and most of all her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Grace, husband John Rand Jr., husband Chester Everman, brothers Frank H. and Wilbur F. Barrett, sister Iva J. Vaillencourt and son in law Louis Toth.

Helen is survived by her three daughters Helen Marie (Ralph) Yarbrough, of South Bend, Ind., Judith “Judy” (Joseph) McDuffie, of South Bend and Toni Toth, of Homestead, Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at Brown Funeral Home in Niles from 5 to 7 p.m., the rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark Catholic Church in Niles on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas King C.S.C. officiating. Helen will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Osceola, Ind.

Memorial donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Women’s Society of St. Mark Church.
