The Edwardsburg Public Schools will honor the husband-wife duo of Larry and Elizabeth Thompson with induction into the Edwardsburg Public School’s Hall of Fame.

The Thompsons will receive the Lifetime Award at a dinner and induction ceremony at 6 p.m. April 23.

The dinner will be in the atrium, followed by the induction ceremony at 7:30 p.m. in the performing arts center.

A reception with light refreshments will be offered immediately following the ceremony in the hall of fame lobby.

The Thompsons grew up in Edwardsburg and graduated from Edwardsburg High School.

Currently they reside in Saugatuck and spend the winters in North Fort Myers, Florida.

They have three sons and daughters-in-law, as well as two granddaughters, two grandsons and a great-grandson.

Elizabeth Thompson earned a degree in home economics and pursued her love of teaching for 35 years. She taught at Sand Creek High School and the Allegan County Area Vocational Technical Center.

She also served as dietician for a nursing facility, ran a catering business and worked as a food service director for the Penske family.

She earned many awards at the state level for her work in Future Homemakers of America, as well as Vocational Industrial Clubs of America.

Larry Thompson earned a teaching degree in history and geography, and a master’s degree in the area of traffic safety education.

He taught with his wife at Sand Creek and served in advisory roles at the state level. He earned many awards from the Michigan Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association.

He has been involved in community service in Madison Township, Lenawee County, as a member of the city planning commission and a trustree on the township board.

He also served on the Saugatuck Public Schools Board of Education.
