MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — In what may be a first for a casino, Blue Chip Casino Hotel Spa, Michigan City, Indiana, is taking its classic American fare on the road with a 22-foot food truck called “King of the Road.”

Depending on the event, the “King of the Road” chef will prepare some of the favorites featured at two of Blue Chip’s casual eateries, The Game and It’s Vegas Baby!, such as a foot-long Polish sausage sandwich dubbed the Ditka Dog, Vienna foot-long hot dogs, chicken and waffle, Italian beef and BBQ pork sandwiches and mac and cheese. Other dining venues at Blue Chip include William B’s Steakhouse, Options Buffet and Nelson’s Deli.

“We’re excited to take our great food on the road,” says Jack Elia, assistant general manager at Blue Chip.

The truck will travel to area festivals and events through the end of October, including the European Market in Chesterton every Saturday, as well as Pierogi Fest in Whiting, Taste of Michigan City, Marshall County Blueberry Festival, Valparaiso Popcorn Festival, Crown Point Corn Roast, Gary Air Show, Great Lakes Super Boat Grand Prix and the Ship and Shore Blues Festival in New Buffalo.

Food truck fans can check on Blue Chip’s King of the Road schedule and locations on the Blue Chip Facebook page or by visiting bluechipcasino.com.
