All-species fishing tourney June 27 in Dowagiac

The Millpond Improvement Association’s Fourth Multi-Species Fishing Tournament will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27 at Heddon Park in Dowagiac.

The tournament, which will be held rain or shine, is for two-man teams with a maximum of 40 teams. Five teams without a boat can fish from the shore at Heddon Park.

Cost is $45 per team. Teams can sign up now at Cranky Hanks Bait Shop, 24992 Marcellus Hwy. Dowagiac or call (269) 262-9272.

First and second place will be awarded in each of the following categories:

• Bluegill ($100 first place/$50 second place) — longest

• Crappie  ($100 first place/$50 second place) — longest

• Bass ($100 first place/$50 second place) — largest by weight

• Carp ($100 first place/$50 second place) — largest combined weight no limit

There will be door prizes for all participants and a mystery grand prize.

Vouchers for Dialo’s Catering Port-o-Pit chicken dinners will be available for purchase at $10 for half a chicken or $12 for a rib tip dinner. Forty percent of the dinner sales will be given to the fundraiser.

Voucher sales ends June 20.

All proceeds will go to the Millpond Improvement Association for dam repairs and upkeep of the lake.
