First Missionary Church hosts parenting seminar

Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller will conduct a parenting seminar at First Missionary Church in Niles from 6:30 to 9 p.m. April 12.

In their book and seminar, Turansky and Miller explain the heart of a child, then help parents learn how to use that information in the day-to-day challenges of family life.

They offer ways to teach children cooperation instead of resistance when following instructions, help children change bad attitudes, develop honesty and nurture self-control.

“We know that for many this is a different way to think about parenting,” said Miller, a pediatric nurse, author and public speaker.

“But the retraining has amazingramifications for family life. Parents and children grow closer together and the work of family life moves forward much easier.”

The cost for this seminar is $10 per adult. Children may attend free of charge.

First Missionary Church is offering a children’s program so the kids are learning ways to add to family life as well. Turansky and Miller have written the curriculum for the children’s program.

“Parents love it when their children come home with a new vision for cooperation and helping out,” Miller said.

First Missionary Church is located at 33332 US Highway 12, Niles. For more information, call (269) 683-9245.

Turansky and Miller are the co-founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting.
