Edwardsburg Area Museum opening new display Saturday

The Edwardsburg Area Museum will open its new display on Saturday.

It will feature artists of Edwardsburg with the main feature the artwork of Marilyn Otto Christner.

 

MARILYN OTTO CHRISTNER

Christner, an Edwardsburg resident, has drawn numerous pictures of old historical buildings of Edwardsburg.

Some of her other paintings will be on display.

Graduating from Edwardsburg High School, she has drawn all of her life. She has taken watercolor classes at the Elkhart Art League and the South Bend Museum of Art.  This is her first exhibit.

Along with Christner will be three other artists of Edwardsburg, Sharon Hardin, Sally Smith Rockefeller, and George Vagis.

 

SHARON HARDIN

Hardin has been a lifelong Edwardsburg resident and graduated from Edwardsburg High School. She does flowers, wildlife and landscapes. Hardin does mostly nature subjects such as birds and flowers.

She Photoshops photography to look like artwork. It is photography stretched on canvas or what she terms ‘modified photography’

She is self-taught and has never studied with anyone. Her camera is a Canon Power Shot SX30IS; a 14 megapixel DSLR. This will be her first exhibit.

 

SALLY SMITH ROCKEFELLER

Rockefeller, of Arcadia, Florida is a native of the Village of Edwardsburg. She specializes in photography and loves to do cemetery photography. She has several coffee table books of her work.

 

GEORGE VAGIS

Vagis does pen and ink work and watercolor and pencil. He has lived in Edwardsburg for 28 years.

A reception for the opening of the exhibit will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. All artists except Sally Rockefeller will be on hand to discuss their artwork.

The public is invited and there is no admission.
