Little Miss and Mr. Cassopolis competed in the Blossomtime Bud Prince and Princess Pageant at St. Joseph High School Nov. 2.

Little Mr. Cassopolis, Ethan Pflug, was named first runner-up to Thomas Moore, Jr., of Benton Harbor. Bergen Fischer of Stevensville was second runner-up.

Baroda’s Alexander Parker was named Bud Princess. Lindsey Salmon of Bridgman and Gabriele Preis of St. Joseph were first and second runner-up respectively.

A total of 40 children participated in the pageant, including 32 girls.

The theme of this year’s Bud Prince and Princess Pageant was “Three Little Kittens.”

The pageant opened with a dance number before each contestant introduced themselves and told the judges and audience what their favorite book was.

Little Miss Cassopolis Sophia Pompey advanced to the Top 12 where she, along with Pflug, were asked “What do you do for fun on the weekend?”

Pompey answered “spending it with her family,” while Pflug said “playing video games and watching TV.”

Upcoming events

The 2014 Miss and Mr. Cassopolis court, along with Pompey and Pflug, will participate in the Candle-light Christmas Parade in Dowagiac on Friday before participating in Christmas in Cassopolis on Saturday.

The 2015 Miss and Mr. Cassopolis Pageant will be at 4 p.m. on Jan. 4 at Ross Beatty Jr./Sr. High School.
