March 30

Conservation Open House

5 to 8 p.m.

Berrien County residents interested in the county’s conservation efforts are invited to an open house March 30 at Countryside Academy, 4800 Meadowbrook Dr., Benton Harbor. More than a dozen organizations will be in attendance to answer questions about various conservation efforts regarding sustainability, natural resources, agriculture and the environment. Questions about this event can be directed to the conservation district manager at (269) 471-9111, ext. 3.

 

April 1-2

Spring Rummage and Bake Sale

First United Methodist Church will host a spring rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, April 1, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2. Saturday will feature a clothing bag sale. Everything else will be 50 percent off. Call Darlene at (269) 782-8551 with any questions.

 

April 2

Chess Tournament

10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Niles District Library will host a chess tournament for Chess Federation members from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 2. The public is invited to watch the tournament. Admission is free and no registration is required.

 

April 8

Knights of Columbus Fish Fry

4:30 to 7 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus will host a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s School Gym, 217 S. Lincoln Ave., Niles. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for children 4 and under. The menu includes all-you-can-eat Alaskan pollock, cheesy potatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, roll, dessert and beverage.

 

April 9

Easter Egg Hunt

Noon

Niles Service League will host an easter egg hunt at noon Saturday, April 9 at Pepper Martin Park, 2401 Lane Elm Dr., Niles. The Easter Bunny will arrive at 11:30 a.m., and the hunt will begin at noon sharp. Free bunny ears will be available to the first 100 children. Prizes are available in each age group, which include infant to 2 years, 3 to 4 years, 5 to 6 years, 7 to 9 years, and 10 to 12 years.

 

April 14th

MARSP Meeting

11 a.m.

The Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel will host a meeting for all active and retired school personnel and their families at Edward Lowe Center Council on Aging, 60525 Decatur Road, Cassopolis. For more information, contact the membership department at (269) 782-4949.

 

April 16

Easter Eggstravaganza

12 to 3 p.m.

Niles Uptown Notion and Riverfront Optimist Club are hosting an Easter Eggstravaganza. Families who are interested in an Easter Egg Hunt, crafts, and photo booths can attend on April 12 at The Rage, 219 N. Front St.

 

April 23

Survivor Stomp

9 a.m.

Domestic and Sexual Abuse Services will host a Survivor Stomp at 9 a.m. April 23. The 1.4-mile walk or 5K run is a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization which supports victims of violence. It will be hosted at Fredd Russ Forest State Park in Decatur. A virtual version is available for those unable to participate in person. Participants may register at dasasmi.org/survivor-stomp for the in-person event and the virtual walk/run. Registration is $35 and includes an event T-shirt, medal, race bib and donation to DASAS.

 

May 30

Dowagiac Memorial Day Parade

10:30 to 12 a.m.

Dowagiac is having a Memorial Day Parade on May 30 outside of City Hall, 241 S Front St. Dowagiac, on Memorial day to honor the Veterans. The event will have a featured speaker and the high school and Kalamazoo bagpipe bands there. It will go from City Hall to Riverside Cemetery. Grand opening & Art Gala

7 p.m.

Adult Prom

The Buchanan Youth Wrestling Club will host an inaugural “Adult Prom” on June 25 at American Legion Post 51, 403 E. Front St., Buchanan. Tickets and details are available at Eventbrite.com.

Dowagiac Fireworks

9:30 to 11 p.m.

Dowagiac Young Professionals are hosting a Holiday Fireworks display on July 01 at Dowagiac Municipal Airport, 710 W Prairie Ronde St. and Russom Park off Middle Crossing. The event begins at dusk and if rain occurs, it will be moved to July 03. For any information, call (269) 783-5430.
