Pedestrian injured in Howard Township crash

HOWARD TOWNSHIP — A pedestrian was injured by a truck in a Howard Township crash Monday Sunday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reported that at 9:20 p.m., his office was called to investigate a truck vs. pedestrian crash that occurred on Beebe and Leet roads in Howard Township.

Initial investigation showed that Gregory Montgomery, 37, of Niles, was southbound on Leet Road when Mel Wynn, 30, was walking northbound and was hit by Montgomery’s vehicle. Wynn sustained injuries from the crash and was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital. No alcohol or drugs were suspected to be contributing to this crash, according to deputies.

Assisting on the scene were SMCAS Ambulance, the Howard Township Fire Department and the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police department.
